Dear LORD

Today I’m standing here in front of you
really for the first time in my life.
With all my respect and all the hope
I have in a new friend of mine.

I should not say “Forgive my long absence”,
but I just would like to do so,
because that’s part of my confidence I have in you!

I will need your helping hand
for the rest of my life
just to reach an aim, that still seems very far away:
I want to break free!

So please help me
to never give up again!
Feeling desire is everything
when I start facing myself.

You know me better than the rest,
never let me walk alone.
Please lend me your helping hand,
I will need it desperately!

Whenever I feel doubt, just help me to trust in you.
When I’m in despair, give me hope.
When I live up to my illusions, show me the way.

My Lord, please be my friend!
